Wynn just had her first PB&J. I gave her a half, and she was tentative. I told her many, many American children eat these. Then, she asked for the other half, and when Gabrian came along to get his . . . it was gone from the counter. I guess it was a success!
We're also trying to convert her to a reader in this family of bookworms. She has lots of kids' graphic chapter books (not quite graphic novels, but more substantial than a glorified comic book) that we bought for her in China. She has a couple of Diary of a Wimpy Kid books in Chinese, but for months, she has been resistant to reading other things. I bought her Harry Potter and Percy Jackson at a bookstore in Guangzhou. She has refused. Finally, we badgered her into reading the first Harry Potter with the promise that once she finished it, the whole family would watch the movie together. By the time she finished it, she was hooked and came asking, "Can you buy me more?" I had purchased both #1 & #2 in Guangzhou, so I was able to produce it in seconds, much to her delight. She read it in a day! I had to buy #3 from Amazon, and she could barely stand the two whole days it takes for an Amazon Prime package to arrive. This one is taking a little longer for her to read, but I've already got #4 waiting in the wings.
And yes, we have watched the first two movies, the whole family together. She likes that best of all.
I have loved following Wynn's first! Nothing like PB&J and reading!
