Continued Adventures of the Bravest Girl I Know

Since graduating the 8th grade, Wynn has had several new adventures.

She went to Nana's house for a few days with Conor and Cameron.  She loves the raccoons and kittens that come daily for dining on the deck.

After returning home (for one evening) from Nana's house, she went to Bible Camp.  This is Camp Pinecroft, where I started going each summer in 1979 (I know!) and where Matthew, Travis, Denise, Andrew, Conor, & Cameron have gone, and where Gabrian and Ari can't wait to go.  I did not preregister her as I did not want her to feel at all like she had to go.  Monday morning, when we went to drop off Conor and Cameron, we took her on a thorough tour of the the camp, and we had her suitcase packed just in case.  A wonderful young woman, Rosie, who is the pastor's daughter at Nana's church, a friend to Andrew and Mandy, and Gabrian and Ari's VBS teacher, took Wynn under her wing.  Rosie arranged for Wynn to be in her cabin and promised with me that if Wynn didn't like it for any reason, Rosie would help her call me, and I would come get her.  I didn't get any emergency calls during the week, and when I came to get them Friday morning and asked if she had fun, I got a resounding, "YES!"  She is already talking about next year.  (I sent her to middle school camp, even though technically, she is going into 9th grade.  That way, she had Conor and Cameron with her all week.  And because high school camp might have been harder in other ways.)

Friday morning, after picking her up from camp, we drove back home to hitch up a trailer full of luggage and gear and drove to Salem, OR, for a family reunion (the portion that is connected to us through Mom).  What a lot of people for her to meet.  She did so well.  I was so proud of her as she shook people's hands and said, "Nice to meet you."  She good naturedly tolerated hugs from those who held out their arms.  Many of the people there, she has seen pictures on Facebook, and we have drawn her a family tree branching out to my aunts, uncles, and cousins already.  Here was a chance to meet them.  This picture has got to be terrifying from her perspective.  (Hey!  I heard that!)

Since she has been gone so much, and we have more vacation planned for August, she took it upon herself to arrange extra "make-up" English lessons with her tutor and then let me know when they would be.  That means she's with me 3 days a week at work . . . but I admire her initiative and am happy to accommodate with checkbook and transportation.
