Letting Her Go

We thought it would be very selfish and a big disservice to our girl if we put her on hold, tried to get our paperwork done, and didn't get done in time. She could lose her chance to be adopted because of us, so we should step out of the way and her family, who was "paper ready," would be able to proceed.

Our agency representative (her own family also in process of adopting) seemed to agree, "Our home study took 2 months. ( that is a minimum time now) The CIS approval that we submitted on January 31 still has not arrived. It will take 3 weeks to authenticate. Then, it will take a couple of months for China to process (if they are quick) The next steps have to go back to our government. If the child is to age out in less than a month, they will expedite and not for any other reason. That process to getting their aproval again and then back to China for the TA and then the consulate appointment is an additional 2-3 months. So, you can see that we are looking at at minimum of 9 months if expedited, 10-11 months with moving right along. "

We thought we had our answer.
