To Help A Friend

I can't even begin to find words for the maelstrom of emotions and thoughts that went with this post. About how Wynn summoned the courage to type it and bring it to my attention.  It is the most personal communication we have had so far.  About how I feel when she says they did not believe she would be adopted.  About her implication that this other child is more beautiful than she is.  About how helpless I feel when Wynn reaches out with a request more substantial than daily needs, and it something I can do so little about.  So here are the words that can speak for themselves.

At work with me, Wynn typed into google translate, "My mother let me say that our village and you have foster children like me, if your friends like you to please adopt a child and my mother said, I can tell her that the adoptive child the age of eleven, I speak English better than her longer than I was there, she did not believe that I will be adopted, and she is very eager adoption by Americans, but I was your adoption, please believe me, she looks better than I beautiful, my mother hope you can help,"

I tried to explain, though all the limitations of the translator, that the orphanage must submit paperwork for a child before a child is eligible for adoption, and that she should ask her foster mother if such paperwork has been submitted.  Wynn was very anxious and up before dawn to call (skype) her foster mom.  She tells me that her mom says, "It is not impossible for adoption, she has her picture taken."  I assume (hope) this means that this young lady's photo has been taken to become a cherished referral photo for a family somewhere.

Wynn tells me the girl's name is Guān Xīn Qí (Google translate rendered the characters she wrote "angel happy.")  So how to find Xīn Qí?  If she has indeed had a file submitted, it could be on any "list" with any agency.

  1. I sincerely hope that Guan Xin Qi's file can be found and that a family steps up to adopt her. How thoughtful of Wynn to care so much for her friend.
