Settling In A Bit More

She seems to be turning a corner of some kind in her comfort level/ feeling like she belongs.  Yesterday, she asked me to follow her and asked to identify and explain each item in the toiletry bag Auntie Denise bought her.   She has treasured it and kept it with her special stuff in the backpack that we have not been privy to . . . but she hasn't used any of it.  Hmmm.  Maybe because she couldn't read what each thing was.  It's kind of funny because I thought to label each bottle in the shower with Chinese writing, but I never thought to tell her about her own stuff.

This morning, she again asked me to follow her, and she carefully took out each birthday gift she was given and asked me to tell her who they were from so she could "write it and leave a deep impression."  (i.e. make a lasting memory.  Lol, my first thought was that she wanted to push hard with the pencil, but my slow brain got it after a second.)  So I told her who had given each gift, and she matched the name to each person's picture and glued a label on the item.

She wanted to go see Conor's room again (she had been looking at the pictures on the blog).  Conor, who just had a birthday sleepover, asked me to give him a few minutes to straighten up.  Wynn said we should feel at ease, and there was no need to clean.  :)  Cute.

  1. she obviously has a warm and loving heart. and is going to respond to the love and care you give her. She will eventually even respond to the love of extended family! Thank you God for this blessing!

  2. That made me tear up a bit in a good way. That is so sweet of her. And I love that she wants to teach the kids Chinese. Will she teach me too? :)
