Tuesday In China

I think it's Tuesday.  Wow, it gets confusing.  I was getting ready to call my kids.  They'll be home from school soon. Whoops, no, it's AM there.

Today, we went to the Stone Forest.  Beautiful.  Pictures to follow under separate header.  :)

After lunch, we asked to go shopping for Wynn.  She is still in the clothes we met her in and could not be tempted to wear one of the T-shirts I bought her, though she tucked them away like treasures.  (As she did the case from her Auntie - though she is going through the gum.  Good choice, Denise!)  Before shopping for her, I told her she could buy candy for her friends as we are scheduled to visit the orphanage tomorrow.  She interpreted that as "candy and gifts."  Well, OK.  If you could have seen her dimples come out . . . we'd have given her anything.  She told the guide she had never been in a store like this.  (It was a "super department store" with groceries, clothes, appliances, and so forth.)  She wandered around beaming and filled her basket with gifts and candy for our orphanage visit.  For a while, she was so happy.

Then, we bought her a little bit of clothes.  It was mall shopping, so we didn't buy too much.  Too expensive.  Our guide said, "She is a pretty girl and a teenager.  She will want to be fashionable."  Salespeople in China are far more . . . solicitous. . . than in the US.  She had 1:1 attention with ladies bringing her things she might like.  She was very comfortable telling them no, lol, but she did pick a few things.  I kept having visions of that scene in Pretty Woman.  :)

She wants to go downstairs in the hotel and visit her little friend from the orphanage, so we will do that soon.  She also asked if it was possible to go home.  :(  I do think she meant to visit, but we would not be allowed to do that, even if we knew how.  I wonder if we call her foster mom on the phone tonight and let her know that we will be at the orphanage, if an accidental run-in could be arranged. ???
