Distance, ctd

Today has been a hard day thus far.  It's a culmination of things, I think. Suddenly, Wynn is irreversibly far from home, so I think that must be causing some turmoil, though she remains tear-free, even when calling foster mom.  Also today was the medical exam, TB test, immunizations - not fun for anybody!  AND then I had to give her a direction (to get on the bus to go to medical exam when she preferred to wait for another family who was not yet in sight) and follow through when she told me no. Wynn is in full rejection mode, staying as far from us as possible.  If I sit near her, even at medical appointment when I was instructed to, she gets up and moves as far away as empty seats will allow.  If I cross the sidewalk to walk with her, she crosses to the other side.  She doesn't go TOO far away though, and she looks to make sure we're in sight. I think this is less because she   doesn't want to lose us, and more that she wants to know that we can see her rejecting us!  Teenagers!  :)

There was some confusion at the medical appointment because they did not have her listed as a special needs child.  They told me for special needs, write "older child," and for surgeries, write "none."  I asked for clarification that I should not mention her heart surgery? This caused a bit of commotion, the retrieval of another doctor from somewhere to double-check with a second stethoscope and second set of ears.  They asked me if I had a copy of her medical records in Chinese.  (Which, because I am extremely organized - not!- I did.)  Then several people read over the cover page on that document and asked if I had another so they could keep it. Yes, I do, and yes, they can, but to what purpose I don't know.  At any rate, in the end, it caused no problems.  Medical exam all passed unless she reacts to TB test.

And I mentioned that she is not nearly as petite as their measurements led us to believe when they sent her measurements in March (or did I just say that on Facebook?)  Anyway, today, she was weighed and measured in front of me, so I can tell you she is 5'2" tall and 113 lbs!  Denise size!  :)  We can definitely put away the 10 slims for Ari.  She'll be wearing them in the blink of an eye anyway.  Very glad I did not shop for clothes!

  1. Denise sized? Ahhhhhhh bless your heart (and your apparent poor eye sight;) Lora!
Hope things get better, I can't imagine what she must be going through, but she will warm up as she is able to accept what has/is happening to her.

I am SUPER glad you didn't buy clothes :) :)
she is a teenager!!! What she is going through must be soooooo hard.... at the same time I kinda chuckled at how all teenagers are somewhat the same. Your little "A" with the pink Vmax came in and asked insistently to see Lora today. We showed her the blog with the pics of you and Wynn. She watched with rapt attention and wanted to see more and more. I told her she would get to meet Wynn soon enough! She's excited! Sent off her completed packet that I assembled yesterday as well.. maybe a Maestro soon...
anyway hope you are still well... we are all thinking of you often, obviously.... praying too!
